Qara Yaʿqub al-Nukdi al-Rumi
Qara Yaʿqub al-Nukdi al-Rumi, a Hanafi, named after Nukda in the lands of Ibn Qaraman. He was born in 789 AH and studied in his own country, where he excelled in the principles of law, Arabic, meaning and eloquence. He wrote a commentary on "al-Masabih" and glosses on "al-Hidaya." He entered the Syrian lands and performed the pilgrimage in 819 AH. He then returned and settled in Larende, where he taught and issued legal opinions. Later he came to Cairo, met the administrator of the realm Tatar, who was impressed by his dignity, and gave him a large sum of money, with which he acquired many books. He went back to his country and stayed in Larende until he died there in Rabiʿ I 833 AH 1.
