Shervin Pishevar

Pishevar was born in Tehran, the son of Abraham Pishevar, a television and radio executive, and Eshrat (Kordary) Pishevar. His father moved to the United States after he was placed on an execution list for broadcasting instructions on leaving Iran to foreign nationals; the family joined him some eighteen months later in Maryland. Pishevar attended Montgomery Blair High School's magnet programme and studied molecular and cell biology at the University of California, Berkeley, where he received a Presidential Fellowship; in 1996 he co-wrote a Journal of the American Medical Association article that helped lead to the Istanbul Protocol. ¹

Pishevar founded and operated technology companies including webs.com, WebOS, Social Gaming Network and HyperOffice. As a managing director at Menlo Ventures he led investments in Warby Parker, Tumblr, Machine Zone and Uber's Series B, and served as an Uber board observer from 2011 to 2015. He co-founded Sherpa Capital, whose fund has invested in Airbnb, Uber, Slack, Robinhood and other companies, and co-founded the transport venture Hyperloop One. As an angel investor he has seeded more than 60 companies. He served on the UN Foundation's Global Entrepreneurs Council from 2011, was named an Outstanding American by Choice in 2012, was appointed to the J. William Fulbright Foreign Scholarship Board in 2015, and received the Ellis Island Medal of Honor in 2016. ¹

His faith is recorded as unknown. No source read names any religious affiliation for him: the English and Persian articles are silent on religion, and Wikidata carries no religion value. His Iranian birth and his family's history are biography, not attestation. ^{1 2 3}
