Taqi al-Din al-Fasi

The hafiz Taqi al-Din al-Fasi, later of Mecca, a man of experience, skill, good company and a sweet tongue, whose fine expression and subtle allusion won hearts. Ibn Hajar said, "He often kept company with me in hearing lessons in Egypt, Syria, Yemen and elsewhere. I held him in affection and esteem, and I stood by him in his affairs. His death grieved me, and I regretted the loss of someone like him." He lost his sight, with stories told about it, and he waited for the cataract operation, but it neither enabled him to bear it nor helped him. His works include "al-ʿIqd al-Thamin fi Akhbar al-Balad al-Amin" and "Shifaʾ al-Gharam fi Akhbar al-Balad al-Haram."

He died in Mecca on the fourth of Shawwal 832 AH 1.
