    Path to knowledge

She embraced Islam in 1989 — a podcast interview records that her parents know her by her birth name, Michelle, and that she is known as Mouna — and then spent more than twenty-five years seeking knowledge in Sydney and Saudi Arabia. Her qualifications are a Master's in Fiqh, a Bachelor in Fiqh and Usul al-Fiqh, a BA in Languages majoring in Arabic, an ijazah in Tajweed in the recitation of Hafs, and an ijazah in Hadith; she has memorised the Quran. She studied traditional texts across fiqh, creed, Quran sciences, hadith and usul al-fiqh with scholars including Sa'd al-Khathlan, Khalid al-Muslih and Abdullah as-Silmi. 1 2

    Teaching

In 2020 she began teaching her Shariah classes online, reaching women across Australia and beyond; her term programme, following the New South Wales school terms, teaches two subjects at a time — among them the fiqh of fasting, creed, the forty hadith of al-Nawawi and the rulings of marriage — alongside self-paced courses on Hajj and Umrah and on the commands of Surat al-Baqarah. She lectures at mosques and centres in Sydney and is invited interstate, and her recorded lectures circulate through lecture archives and her own platforms. She is a wife and mother of five. 1 2
