Overview

Washmakir ibn Ziyar of the Ziyarids, lord of Tabaristan and Gurgan. Ibn al-Athir reports his affairs in al-Kamil 2.

War with Rukn al-Dawla

Ibn al-Athir reports that Rukn al-Dawla ibn Buya marched against him in the year 351 AH, and besieged and took Sari. Washmakir left Tabaristan and made for Gurgan. Rukn al-Dawla remained in Tabaristan until he had taken all of it, then pursued him to Gurgan and seized it 2.

Three thousand men from Washmakir's army joined Rukn al-Dawla, who grew stronger, and Washmakir grew weaker. Washmakir entered the land of al-Jil 3.

He may be the same person as Washmakir ibn Ziyar. This needs an additional source.
