Overview
The Western Wall of the Haram al-Sharif in Jerusalem — Muslims call it the Buraq Wall, Jews the Wailing Wall — an inseparable part of the sanctuary's wall, over a hundred meters long and about twenty high; most archaeologists date its lower courses to Herod's temple 2. The Palestine administration regulated Jewish prayer there under limited arrangements in 1925, 1928 and 1929, and the 1928 White Paper confirmed the status quo.
