Summary

Kin and neighbours

He says honour includes the kin of both father and mother, and that one must fear God regarding one's parents. ⁵ He adds that a neighbour must not be harmed. ⁶

Duties of the child

He says parents have rights over their children, and wives have rights over their husbands; he treats these in his lesson on the rights of parents. ⁷

After death

He lists duties towards a father after his death: hajj performed on his behalf, honouring his friends, and prayer for him by a righteous child. ⁸ ⁹ ¹⁰

Honouring parents in the fourth lesson of the series on rights

The Sheikh says the person most deserving of a man's companionship is his mother. ¹¹ He counts among the greatest forms of honour that a son pleases his father and mother, living and dead. ¹² He says that a righteous son's prayer for his father raises the father's rank in Paradise. ¹³
