What the Timeline Explorer offers
The Timeline Explorer lets you pick one subject (a person, an era or a city) and walk its story one stop at a time. Each stop is a record from the museum, with its date in the Hijri and Gregorian calendars, a short text and its sources.
What you can do
- Choose a subject from the shelves, or search for one by name.
- Start a guided journey: a set of stops in time order, with Stop 3 of 9 shown as you go.
- Move along the timeline with the arrows, by selecting a stop, or with the arrow keys.
- Open Full details, see the place On the map where it has one, or follow Context and relations into the museum.
- Read the related people, places and sources beside the story; the sources change as you move.
- Switch on For kids where a stop has a text written for children.
How to use it
- Every stop has its own address, so you can share it or come back to it.
- Dates marked approximate or debated are shown that way, as the sources give them.
- From a museum entry that has a story, press Explore the timeline to open it.
What it does not do
- It does not use AI when you read it. Everything on the page was prepared in advance.
- It does not search the web. Topics that are not prepared show: Not in the Timeline Explorer yet.
- It has no sign-in and keeps no record of you.
- Kids text is shown only where it has been written and checked.
