Summary
A question on the merit of the regular sunna prayers, which the IslamWeb fatwa centre answered by setting out what is reported about them. 1
The question
The questioner asked what the merit of the regular sunna prayers is. 1
The answer
The centre answered that their merit is great, citing the hadith of Umm Habiba in Muslim's collection that whoever prays twelve voluntary rak'as each day will have a house built for him in Paradise. 1 It gave al-Tirmidhi's version, which lists them: four before the noon prayer and two after it, two after the sunset prayer, two after the night prayer and two before the dawn prayer. 1 It then gave what is reported on the merit of particular ones, such as keeping four rak'as before the noon prayer and four after it. 1
