Summary

'Turning along Kantarcılar Caddesi, the Avenue of the Scale-Makers, one comes to Tahtakale Hamamı, an enormous double bath which also dates to the age of Fatih. Recently restored, it has been converted into a shopping mall. Its most impressive chamber is the camekân, almost square at 16.70 by 16.25 metres and covered by a huge dome on a low drum.' 1
