Summary
"Yavaşça Şahin Camii is the first of the old mosques met on the way downhill to the Golden Horn along Uzun Çarşı Caddesi. Yavaşça Şahin Pasha was a captain in Fatih's fleet at the Conquest and built the mosque soon afterwards, though the exact date is unknown. Badly damaged by fire in 1908, it was well restored in 1950." 1
'It belongs to a small group of early mosques forming a distinct type in which the front porch has only two domes, so that its entrance portal is shifted off centre beneath the dome on the right. Inside, a square chamber with a blind dome on an octagonal drum is supported by a series of triangles making a sixteen-sided base; the porch was not restored because of a shop intruding into it.' 1
