Reason and heart

العقل والقلب

Wajdi holds that a person must balance reason and heart together. Reason discerns truth from falsehood, while the heart gives the sensitivity that restrains a person from wrongdoing even when he knows its harm. He argues that scientific progress alone did not prevent wars, and that Islam educates both reason and heart and calls to reflection on the world and the self 1 2 3. This is the author's analysis, not the museum's verdict.

Overview

Muhammad Farid Wajdi holds man charged with balancing intellect and heart together: the intellect perceives truth and falsehood, the heart gives the delicacy of feeling and nobility of emotion that deter wrong even when one knows its harm. Scientific progress alone, he notes, did not prevent wars and destruction — Islam joined the education of mind and heart and called to reflection on horizons and souls 1 2 3. This is the author's analysis, not the museum's ruling.

God's sovereignty and human ownership (al-mulk wal-tamalluk)

Sheikh Omar Abdelkafy's teaching on the oneness of sovereignty: all sovereignty belongs to God, and what people hold of wealth, authority and health is a trust or a loan in their hands. He holds that a person owns himself through his will, and that provision is decreed, so one strives while believing it comes from God.
