The birth
Abu 'Amr Yusuf ibn 'Abd Allah ibn Muhammad ibn 'Abd al-Barr al-Namari al-Qurtubi was born at Cordoba on a Friday while the imam was delivering the sermon, five days before the end of Rabi' II in the year 368 — the twenty-ninth of November, as his companion Tahir ibn Mufawwiz showed it written in his father's hand 1.
