Overview
Qutayba ibn Sa'id ibn Jamil, Abu Raja' al-Baghlani — the shaykh of the two Shaykhs — was one of the eight masters from whom al-Tirmidhi narrated most heavily in his Sunan, his intake from the eight amounting to three quarters of the book 1.
On his Khurasan journey
His hearing from Qutayba falls before the shaykh's death in 240/854, a stop on al-Tirmidhi's scholarly journey through the lands of Khurasan 2.
