Summary
The Halal Product Assurance Organizing Agency (BPJPH), also known as Halal Indonesia, is an Indonesian cabinet-level government agency in charge of organising halal certification; Haikal Hassan has led it since 22 October 2024. 1
Origins
Together with the Hajj Management Authority, it results from a spin-off of the Ministry of Religious Affairs; halal assurance had been the responsibility of a body within the ministry, which became an independent agency. 1
Organisation
Presidential Decree No. 153/2024 sets its organisation: a general secretariat and three deputies for partnerships and standards, for registration and certification, and for fostering and supervision, including directorates for accrediting foreign halal institutions and for regular halal certification and self-declaration. 1
