Summary
Abu Taw Haa Muhammad Adnan (born 1991) is a Bangladeshi Islamic speaker, researcher and YouTube personality. He gained recognition, especially among the young, for his lectures on tafsir, hadith and contemporary social issues. His personal YouTube channel counted 740,000 subscribers by vidIQ's count updated on 4 November 2026, and his platform channel, Taw Haa Tv, is listed as his website in the English article's infobox — both dated platform figures, not museum-verified facts. 1 2
In 2021, his disappearance for eight days became a subject of widespread national discussion in Bangladesh. 1
Early life and education
Although his ancestral home is in Rajshahi, he spent his childhood at his maternal grandfather's house in Rangpur. After his father, Rafiqul Islam, died during his childhood, his mother, Ajefa Begum, moved with him to Rangpur, and he grew up there; he now resides in the Ahle Hadith Mosque area on Central Road in Rangpur city. From a young age he was interested in cricket and was known locally as a good cricketer, before he dedicated himself to religious and dawah activities. 1
His formal education began at the age of seven, when his mother sent him to learn the Qur'an from Maulana Nazrul. He completed his secondary and higher secondary education at Lions School and College, Rangpur, then enrolled at Carmichael College and earned his bachelor's and master's degrees in philosophy. Alongside his formal education, he received religious instruction from various scholars at Jamia Salafia Madrasah in Rangpur, and added knowledge through self-study of Islamic books and research texts. 1
Beginnings and career
He began broadcasting Islamic lectures on YouTube in 2017 and published his first video in 2019. His topics include tafsir and hadith, the signs of the Day of Judgment, the Antichrist, prophecies, social issues and the challenges facing Muslim society, and he gained popularity quickly for explaining contemporary issues from a religious perspective. His personal channel describes itself as his official, verified channel, whose mission is "to share the true teachings of Islam and Shariah", and it was still uploading in the days before it was read on 5 November 2026. 1 3
In 2018 he won first place in an Islamic competition called "Alokito Gyani" (Enlightened Scholar), which further increased his recognition. He established and directs an online madrasa, the Taw Haa Jin Nurain Online Madrasah (the article also writes the name "Toha Yin Nurain"). 1
A separate channel named "Abu Tawha Muhammad Adnan Lectures" (about 290 thousand subscribers by one tracker's count in the wave-192 harvest) could not be verified as his own; it is recorded here as unverified, and no figure from it is attributed to him. 3
The 2021 disappearance
On 10 June 2021 he went missing along with two companions and his driver while travelling from Rangpur to Dhaka. The incident caused widespread concern among his family and followers, a social-media campaign ran under the hashtag #saveAbuTohaAdnan, and his second wife held a press conference seeking the intervention of the prime minister and the administration. Eight days later, on 18 June, he was found at his first wife's home in Rangpur; he and his companions had been staying at a friend's house in Gaibandha. The Rangpur Metropolitan DB Police then stated at a press conference that he had gone into hiding voluntarily due to family disputes. 1
In June 2021, the Salafi scholar Abubakar Muhammad Zakaria quoted Adnan criticising his religious teachings, and the two posted videos targeting each other on YouTube and Facebook. 1
Positions and criticism
This section sets out different positions as reported in the sources. It is not a verdict by the museum.
Women's clothing and the 2021 controversy. In a 2021 lecture he stated that just as it is essential for men to guard their gaze, it is also mandatory for women to wear modest clothing. A controversy arose over one of his speeches, alleging that he blamed women's clothing for rape; media analysis of the full speech later suggested its context was different, and that he had urged both men and women to maintain modesty. In 2025, a statement attributed to him again drew criticism, claiming that women who go out without a mahram are responsible if they are assaulted. 1
Palestine. He has expressed solidarity with Palestine and spoken against Israeli actions; at a 2023 seminar on the Palestine issue in Dhaka he called for a boycott of Israeli products, saying that the responsibility of protecting al-Aqsa Mosque and liberating Palestine "does not belong only to the Palestinians but to all Muslims worldwide". He has also taken part in rallies in support of Palestine. 1
Gathering disputes. In 2021 a dispute arose with the organisers of a waz mahfil in Bogura, who accused him of not speaking for the full contracted time and of taking 36,000 taka and a wristwatch; the accusation was reported in the media. In January 2022 he was scheduled to speak at a waz mahfil in Faridpur but could not do so because of objections from the local administration. 1
The October 2025 allegations. In October 2025 his second wife publicly alleged that he had resumed a close relationship with a former college classmate. He responded that his mobile phone had been stolen and urged people not to spread false information. She retracted her statement the following day, saying she had been wrongly influenced, then posted her claims again on 11 October, emphasising that they were true. A scholar who publicly defended him was himself widely criticised for appearing to shift responsibility onto the wife. The allegations and the responses are recorded here as reported claims, not as findings. 1
Politics. In October 2024 he called on the Bangladesh Chhatra League to repent to Allah for their past actions and to ask the people's forgiveness. 1
Personal life
He is married and has two children. This museum does not publish family details beyond what is needed to understand his work — beyond noting that family disputes were the police's stated explanation for his 2021 disappearance, as reported above. 1
Reach
His reach anchor is his personal channel: 740,000 subscribers by vidIQ's count updated 4 November 2026, a dated platform figure. His platform channel, Taw Haa Tv, carries his lectures to a larger audience still; a third channel using his name could not be verified as his and is not counted as his reach. 2 1 3
