    Summary

Adnan Nawaz is a British news anchor, born in Peshawar, Pakistan. He began at the BBC in the early 1990s, presented sport and news on the BBC News channel and BBC World News between 2000 and 2015 — including the Asia-facing programme Newsday — and in September 2015 joined TRT World as a news anchor. 1

    Life

Nawaz was born in Peshawar, Pakistan, a fact he has confirmed in his own words. 1 The English article carries no birth date for him and files him under "Year of birth missing (living people)"; Wikidata gives 28 November 1968, but references the statement only as imported from the English Wikipedia, so the museum records the year 1968 as debated and does not adopt the day or month. 1 2 He graduated from the London School of Economics with a BSc in International Relations and then completed an MA in Latin American Politics at the Institute of Latin American Studies, University of London. 1

    Work

Nawaz began work at the BBC in the early 1990s as a broadcast assistant in the Latin American section of the BBC World Service, and became a Sony Award-winning radio producer, spending five years producing live programmes and documentaries for BBC Radio 5 Live and Radio 4. 1 In 2000 he moved to television sports news, presenting sport on the BBC News channel and BBC World News and reporting from the Olympic Games, the FIFA World Cup, the UEFA European Championship, the ICC Cricket World Cup and Wimbledon. 1 From 2009 to 2015 he read the news on the BBC News channel and BBC World News, co-presenting Newsday and anchoring the network's main European-facing breakfast programme. 1 In September 2015 TRT World announced that Nawaz was joining it as a news anchor. 1
