    Summary

Ahmadullah, better known as Shaykh Ahmadullah, is a Bangladeshi Islamic scholar, jurist and social activist, born on 15 December 1981 in Bashikpur village, Sadar Upazila, Lakshmipur District. He founded and serves as chairman of the As-Sunnah Foundation, and he also founded IQA.info, an Islamic question-and-answer website. 1

His lectures reach a mass audience online. His YouTube channel, named "Ahmadullah", counted 3.33 million subscribers and 368 million views in the English article's YouTube infobox, whose figures were last updated on 30 November 2025 — dated platform figures, not museum-verified facts. 1 The channel began as the As-Sunnah Foundation's channel: a biography written in 2022–2023 stated that he had no personal channel and that his videos were published on the Foundation's channel, and the channel now carries his own name. 2 1

    Early life and education

He was born in Bashikpur village in Lakshmipur District. His father, Muhammad Delwar Hussain, was a businessman, and his mother is Mosammat Delwara Begum; he was the second of six siblings. 1

He completed his primary education at Bashikpur Primary School, then enrolled in a Qawmi madrasa, studying at several madrasas in Noakhali and at the Faizul Uloom Madrasa in Hatiya, where he studied under Mufti Saiful Islam. He then joined Darul Uloom Hathazari, the country's largest Qawmi institution. Under the Qawmi Madrasa Education Board (Wifaq) he placed tenth in the higher secondary (Sanubiyya) examination, third in the bachelor's (Fazilat) examination and, in 2001, second in the combined merit list of Dawra-e-Hadith. After Dawra-e-Hadith he completed his ifta studies at Khulna Darul Uloom. At Hathazari he was a disciple of Mufti Shahidullah, and the article names Khandaker Abdullah Jahangir as an influence on him. 1

    Career

After completing his education he joined Darur Rashad Mirpur Qaumi Madrasa as a teacher in 2003, while serving as imam and khatib at Baitul Falah Jame Masjid in Mirpur, Dhaka. He left Dhaka in 2009 for Saudi Arabia, where he worked for ten years as a translator and preacher at the West Dammam Islamic Dawah Centre under the Saudi religious ministry. He returned to Bangladesh on the advice of Khandaker Abdullah Jahangir and established the As-Sunnah Foundation. 1

He serves as khatib of Bhumipalli Jame Mosque in Narayanganj and, currently, as khatib of the As-Sunnah Foundation Masjid Complex and Islamic Center in Badda, Dhaka. In the aftermath of the July 2024 mass uprising, during the lead-up to the formation of the interim government in August 2024, he was offered the position of advisor to the Ministry of Religious Affairs, but he declined it. 1

    Projects and initiatives

The As-Sunnah Foundation is the charitable organisation he founded and chairs; it works in education, service and dawah, and its relief work has included a large flood-relief effort reported in August 2024. 1 2 He also founded IQA.info, an Islamic question-and-answer website. 1

He has taken part in dawah programmes internationally, including in Japan, India and the United Arab Emirates. 1

    Positions and criticism

This section sets out different positions as reported in the sources. It is not a verdict by the museum.

The 2021 emoji fatwa. In June 2021, international press reported that he had issued a fatwa against Facebook's "haha" reaction emoji. 1

A reported remark on Salafi ideology. In August 2023, Dhaka Post reported his statement that the Saudi Salafi ideology is part of the faith. The report is recorded here as a reported position; it is a statement about an ideology, not a school attestation for the man himself. 1

The Australian visa cancellation. On 5 April 2026, the Australian Department of Home Affairs cancelled his visa, halting his national speaking tour, "A Legacy of Faith". The English article, citing the Dhaka Tribune and The Daily Telegraph, reports that the revocation followed public backlash and Telegraph reports highlighting past video lectures in which he made antisemitic remarks. 1 An IANS analysis of 10 April 2026 reported that Home Affairs was reviewing whether to impose a permanent ban, and described the Telegraph-cited video as suggesting that even minor conflicts should be viewed through the lens of a supposed "Jewish conspiracy", alleging that Jews act as hidden orchestrators behind global unrest. 3

    Books

His book of morning and evening supplications, Dua and Zikr of the Messenger of Allah, has been distributed free of charge in more than 300,000 copies. His other listed books include How to Do Umrah?, Ramadan Planner and Seerat Sarok-2021, and he has written hundreds of dawah and research articles in Bengali and Arabic. 1

    Recognition

He received the As-Sunnah Foundation Young Entrepreneur Award in 2021 and the Boiferi Bestseller Award in the religious category in 2022. 1

    Personal life

He has three sons and a daughter. This museum does not publish family details beyond what is needed to understand his work. 1

    Reach

The reach figures in this entry are dated platform figures: 3.33 million YouTube subscribers and 368 million views, as carried in the English article's infobox with a last update of 30 November 2025. His planned Australian tour of April 2026, cancelled with his visa, is itself evidence of an international speaking circuit. 1 3
