Summary

Al-Malik al-Zahir Hizbar al-Din 'Abdallah — some say Yahya — b. Isma'il al-Rasuli, king of Yemen; he took the throne in Rajab 830. His kingdom weakened and Yemen's realms were ruined in his days, his revenues meagre as the bedouin seized the provinces; so it remained until he died on Thursday at the end of Rajab 842. His son al-Malik al-Ashraf Isma'il, about twenty, succeeded — and his conduct was poor. 1
