Overview
Hibat Allah Ibn Makula, vizier many times to Jalal al-Dawla Abu Tahir, a memoriser of the Qur'an versed in poetry and chronicles; in Rabi' II 427 he was seized and handed to al-Murtada at Dar al-Malika, where he fell ill and was despaired of. 1
His brother's defence
The caliph corresponded about his brother the chief qadi Abu 'Abdallah Ibn Makula, who defended and protected him, while the Turks' situation nearly reached the point of handing him over or an irreparable breach — until the caliph wrote to the hajib, "the matter has gone too far in casting off our watchfulness and dropping our dignity"; and Hibat was strangled in Jumada II 429. 1
