Summary
Ibn Munir al-Tarabulsi the poet; raised in Tripoli's markets, he excelled in adab, came to Damascus and settled there — a Shi'a prolific in lampoon with a wicked tongue; Buri ibn Atabeg Tughtakin, lord of Damascus, jailed him for a time and resolved to cut out his tongue, but intercession won him exile instead. 1
His verse-duels
Between him and Ibn al-Qaysarani ran letters, answers and satire-exchanges — both living at Aleppo, rivals in their craft; born at Tripoli 473, he died in Jumada II 548 at Aleppo and was buried at Jabal Jawshan. 1
