    Summary

The chief minister Abu'l-Fath 'Umar ibn Shaykh al-Shuyukh al-Juwayni the Shafi'i; he held the teaching of the Shafi'is, the mashhad of al-Husayn and the shaykhdom of shaykhs in Egypt; he rose in al-Jawad's sultanate, then entered Egypt — its lord al-'Adil Abu Bakr blamed him and answered by deposing al-Jawad from the sultanate, which he could not prevent; al-'Adil sent a Ta'lida from Isma'iliyya who killed him in Jumada I — he was fifty-five. 1
