    Summary

Kamal El-Mekki is an American dawah trainer and AlMaghrib Institute instructor dubbed the "Black Belt of Dawah". He is best known for his workshop "How to Give Shahadah in 10 Minutes", designed to equip Muslim student associations and dawah organisations for outreach, and he formerly served as a Muslim chaplain and imam at George Mason University in Virginia. 1 2

    Work

El-Mekki's teaching combines a ground-breaking style with humour, and his lectures and online videos, targeting contemporary challenges, have reached Muslim and non-Muslim audiences alike. 1 In 2015 a lecture visit to Trinity College Dublin, co-hosted by the Muslim Student Association and the Irish branch of the AlMaghrib Institute, drew objections from some students; he responded that the clip cited against him was an excerpt from a 39-hour course, taken out of context, in which he explained that apostasy law is not something Muslims advocate reviving or practising. 2

    Positions and faith

This section should be read as a presentation of what the sources give, not as a verdict of the museum.

The Muslim Central biography says he was educated at the hands of numerous prominent Islamic scholars from across the world, and Trinity News identifies him as a former George Mason imam and an AlMaghrib speaker. 1 2 Teachers and an institute affiliation are not a school attestation, and no source consulted names a legal school or theological affiliation for him personally, so no faith value is recorded for him.
