Summary
Nighat Hashmi — Ustazah Nighat Hashmi — is a Pakistani scholar and teacher of women's Qur'an education, and the founder and chairperson of Al-Noor, the Islamic education and welfare organisation she established in 1996. 1 2
Her YouTube channel, @nighathashmi, counted 205,000 subscribers in vidIQ's update of 5 November 2026 — a dated platform figure, not a museum-verified fact. 3 She is a different person from Farhat Hashmi, the founder of Al-Huda International: the two women, and the two organisations, Al-Noor and Al-Huda, are distinct and are kept strictly separate in this record. 1
Life and education
She was born in Sargodha, Punjab, in 1960 — her official biography gives the year only — the daughter of the Islamic scholar Abdur Rehman Hashmi, under whose guidance she received her initial Islamic education. 1 She took master's degrees in Arabic and Islamic studies and an M.Phil. in education, and served as a Lecturer and Assistant Professor at Islamia University, Bahawalpur, from 1994 to 2007, resigning to give herself to her educational mission. 1
Al-Noor
In 1995, while pursuing her M.Phil. in Teacher's Education, she researched character building in the religious institutes of Pakistan, and the study's findings moved her to act. 1 In 1996 she founded Al-Noor International, beginning with modest classes in her own home in Bahawalpur, with the mission of promoting character building and behaviour modification among Muslim youth through the teachings of Islam. 1 2 The foundation's own history records its incorporation as a non-profit in 2007, campuses in 11 major Pakistani cities by 2011, and 17 campuses and 57 branches by 2018, together with the Al-Noor School and Al-Noor College she also founded. 2
Teaching and writing
Her teaching centres on the Qur'an: translation, tafseer, Dawrah-e-Qur'an courses, Hadith and Seerah, and contemporary women's issues, delivered through courses, monthly and weekend programmes and workshops for students and teachers across Al-Noor's institutes. 1 She translated the Qur'an into Urdu, and her best-known work is "Quran an Ajaba", a tafseer of the Qur'an in question-and-answer format, completed under Al-Noor in 2018. 1 2 Her books include "The Path of Heaven (Jannat ka Rasta)", "The Path of Faith (Imaan ka Rasta)" and "At Allah's Door (Rab k Dar Per)", and a children's series, "Children of Heaven". 1
Her official biography states that "she holds the distinction of being the first female Islamic scholar to translate the Quran with interpretive insights". 1 That distinction is recorded here exactly as her biography words it and as her own ecosystem's claim: no independent source read for this record confirms the "first" claim, and it is not stated in the museum's voice.
Positions and faith
This section presents what the sources give, not a verdict of the museum.
Her organisation frames its teaching as character building through the teachings of the Qur'an and Sunnah, with a particular emphasis on women's education and empowerment. 1 2 No source read names a specific school or order for her personally, and her father's scholarship is family background; under the museum's two-source rule no faith value is recorded for her, and the non-sectarian framing of her teaching is preserved in her data record's faith note. 1
Reach
Her reach anchor is her personal channel: @nighathashmi counted 205,000 subscribers, 25,551,170 total views and 6,857 videos in vidIQ's update of 5 November 2026, on a channel created on 4 January 2016 with its country set to Pakistan. 3
