Summary
Early life
Paul Labile Pogba was born on 15 March 1993 in Lagny-sur-Marne, Seine-et-Marne, France, to Guinean parents, and has two older twin brothers, Florentin and Mathias, who are also footballers and play for the Guinean national team. 1 He began playing at the age of six for US Roissy-en-Brie, spent a season with US Torcy as captain of its under-13 team, and joined Le Havre, captaining its under-16 team. 1
Manchester United, Juventus and the world-record return
He joined Manchester United's youth academy in 2009 — a move Le Havre publicly criticised and asked FIFA to investigate, after which United were cleared of wrongdoing by a judge appointed by FIFA, as the article records — and made his professional debut in September 2011. 1 In 2012 he joined Juventus on a free transfer and developed into one of Europe's best midfielders, winning four consecutive Serie A titles and two Coppa Italia titles and helping Juventus reach the 2015 Champions League final. 1 In 2016 he returned to Manchester United for a then world-record transfer fee of €105 million (£89.3 million), won the EFL Cup and the UEFA Europa League in his first season back, and was named in the PFA Team of the Year for 2018–19. 1
France
He captained France to victory at the 2013 FIFA U-20 World Cup and was named the tournament's Best Player, made his senior debut in 2013, was named Best Young Player at the 2014 World Cup, helped France reach the Euro 2016 final, and won the 2018 World Cup, scoring in the final. 1
Return to Juventus, the doping ban and Monaco — attributed
He rejoined Juventus in 2022. 1 The article records that he was provisionally suspended in September 2023 after a drugs test following a match against Udinese was confirmed to have found non-endogenous testosterone, that on 29 February 2024 the Italian Anti-Doping National Tribunal gave him a four-year ban, and that on 4 October 2024 the ban was reduced on appeal to 18 months, meaning he could resume playing in March 2025. 1 Juventus released him in 2024, and in June 2025 he signed for Monaco. 1 The museum records the tribunal's decisions and the appeal outcome as the article reports them and makes no judgement of its own. 1
Faith in his public life — attributed
The English article's personal-life section states: "Pogba is a practicing Muslim", citing The Independent's 2019 report, in which he opened up on his Muslim faith, and a BBC Three report on Muslim footballers during Ramadan. 1 These are accounts of his practice as the sources report them, and no source used here names a school or madhhab for him. 1
