    Summary

Pipik Dian Irawati Popon, known as Umi Pipik ("Mother Pipik"), is an Indonesian preacher, born on 26 November 1977 in Semarang, Central Java1. She began as a model, actress and singer, married the preacher Jeffry Al Buchori in 1999, and after his death in an accident in 2013 took up his preaching herself, becoming one of Indonesia's best-known women preachers1.

    Beginnings and marriage

Irawati modelled for Aneka magazine from 1995 to 1997, acted in series and films, and from 2010 sang with the religious vocal group Fatimah Voice1. She married the preacher Jeffry Al Buchori, known as Uje, in 1999, and they had four children1. Uje was one of Indonesia's most famous young preachers, and in those years Irawati was known as his wife and a supporter of his work1.

    The turn to preaching

Jeffry Al Buchori died on 26 April 2013 in a motorcycle accident in South Jakarta1. After his death Irawati began giving lessons and lectures herself, in women's assemblies and on preaching tours across Indonesia; she became known as Umi Pipik, and her lessons spread on Instagram, TikTok and YouTube as the heir of her husband's preaching and a spiritual mother to her audience1.

    Impact and audience

Irawati is among Indonesia's most prominent women preachers: about 3.3 million Instagram accounts and 1.3 million TikTok accounts followed her in a 2025 study — platform figures that change constantly and are not presented by the museum as fixed facts1.
