Summary
Seyed Majid Banifatemeh is an Iranian maddah (eulogist) from Tehran, and Iran's most-followed maddah on Instagram. 1 2 Persian Wikipedia describes him as a maddah from Iran who began maddahi in earnest in 1371 SH (1992–93) at the age of fifteen. 1 His Instagram account counted 1,176,156 followers in November 2026 per an on-platform profile read — a dated platform figure, not a measurement the museum makes itself. 2
Beginnings and education
Seyed Majid Banifatemeh was born in Tehran in Bahman 1356 SH, at the start of 1978, and continued his schooling to diploma level before turning to maddahi. 1 He began professional maddahi in 1371 SH at the age of fifteen. 1 He credits his meeting with the maddah Saeed Haddadian at a martyrs' funeral procession with his great progress in the art. 1
Works and eulogy
Banifatemeh now performs his maddahi at the Heyat Reyhanat al-Hossein in Tehran's Bagh Feyz district. 1 He became known to the public through his noheh "Amoo Abbas" ("Uncle Abbas"). 1 His recorded genres are maddahi, noheh-khani and shur, in the noheh, rowzeh and marsiyeh styles. 1 On Eid al-Ghadir in 1395 SH he appeared as a guest on Rambod Javan's television programme Khandevaneh, an acceptance that drew some abuse on his social page, as the article reports. 1
Impact and audience
Banifatemeh's Instagram account stood at 1,176,156 followers when read on the platform on 7 November 2026; it is a verified creator account and links out to his Spotify artist page. 2 The hafi.pro tracker reads a total audience of 1,180,782 for the same account for August 2026, down from 1,207,445 in April 2026 — close to the on-platform read and corroborating its scale. 3
