Overview
The scholar Wajih al-Din Abu'l-Khayr Ahmad b. Isma'il al-Taliqani al-Qazwini, Shafi'i jurist and preacher; born 501, he read fiqh under Malikdar al-Qazwini and surpassed his peers, heard from al-Farawi, Zahir and others, then came to Baghdad before 560 where he taught and preached. 1
His preaching
An imam in the madhhab, khilaf, usul, tafsir and preaching, his words fell upon people thanks to his fine manner and sweet speech; he wrote Kitab al-inbayan fi masa'il al-Qur'an against the Hululis and Jahmis, and went on as chief of preachers — he spoke one day and Ibn al-Jawzi the next, the caliph attending from behind the curtain and crowds and nations attending. He returned to Qazvin in 580, kept to worship, and died in Muharram 590. 1
