Summary

Yazid ibn al-Mundhir ibn Sarh ibn Khanas ibn Sinan ibn Ubayd ibn Adi ibn Ghanm ibn Ka'b ibn Salama al-Ansari al-Khazraji al-Sulami, counted by Ibn Ishaq among the men of Aqaba; al-Isaba tells of his coming in a delegation dressed in white 1.

His entry in al-Isaba

Ibn Hajar writes in al-Isaba: Yazid ibn al-Mundhir ibn Sarh — with unpointed letters — ibn Khanas — with an unmarked kha' and a light nun — ibn Sinan ibn Ubayd ibn Adi ibn Ghanm ibn Ka'b ibn Salama al-Ansari al-Khazraji al-Sulami: Ibn Ishaq counted him among those who witnessed Aqaba 1.

The story of his delegation

Ibn Manda transmitted with his chain, by way of al-Walid ibn Yazid from his father from Yazid, that he came in a delegation wearing white garments, and it was said of him: "Why do you not take this man as your model — ascetic in this world, desirous of the next?"; Ibn Manda abbreviated the chain, and Abu Nu'aym reported it in a similar way 1. Ibn Hajar comments on the route with hesitation over whether the transmitter's name was Zayd or Yazid, approving the wording of Ibn Abd al-Barr and of Ibn Makula and al-Daraqutni at that point 1.

For younger visitors

Yazid ibn al-Mundhir was a man of the Ansar who witnessed the pledge of Aqaba; the biographical books tell that he came in a delegation clothed in white until it was said of him that he was the ascetic in this world desirous of the next.
