Summary
Yazid ibn Ruqaysh ibn Ri'ab ibn Ya'mar, al-Asadi — Musa ibn Uqba and Ibn Ishaq name him among those present at Badr, and Ibn Hibban says he is said to have had companionship 1.
His entry in al-Isaba
Ibn Hajar gives him a brief entry: his nasab back to Ya'mar al-Asadi; Musa ibn Uqba and Ibn Ishaq list him among the men of Badr; Ibn Hibban says it is reported that he had companionship; and Abu Umar notes that whoever calls him "Arbad ibn Ruqaysh" has erred 1.
For younger visitors
Yazid ibn Ruqaysh was a man of the Asad tribe whom the maghazi authors name among those at Badr; some scholars state his companionship and others only report it.
Notes for researchers
- Al-Isaba entry no. 9345 (al-Maktaba al-Asriyya scan, p. 1588); a short entry joining his presence at Badr with Ibn Hibban's qualification on his companionship.
- The entry itself flags the misspelling "Arbad ibn Ruqaysh", corrected by Abu Umar.
