Summary

The Alukah Network is an Islamic network for da'wa, media, culture, scholarship and letters, made of thirteen sites to which writers and thinkers contribute, founded in 1427 AH / 2006, working in Arabic and English. 1 "Alukah" is Arabic for a message, as in al-Mu'jam al-Wasit and al-'Ukbari's al-Mashuf al-Mu'lam. 1

Beginnings

The earliest capture of alukah.net in the Internet Archive is dated 7 February 2006, titled "Alukah site", with a page for a competition, its branches, rules and prizes, and a guest book. 2

Its aims, as it states them

Among the network's stated aims are publishing scholarly material that serves Islamic culture, through e-books, articles, studies and Friday sermons; offering advice in da'wa, psychology, education and family matters; introducing thinkers, reformers and writers; caring for young writers; making the Islamic and Arab heritage known to the digital public; and opening windows for scholarly dialogue. 1

Its sites

Its sites include Afaq al-Shari'a for religious research and articles; Culture and Knowledge for political, intellectual and historical material; Society and Reform for family and upbringing; Consultations; the Civilisation of the Word for literature and language; Muslims in the World for news of Muslim minorities; the Alukah Library; Translations, rendering into Arabic what Western media write about the Muslim world; the Talking Library, which turns books recorded by the Central Talking Library of Saudi Arabia's Ministry of Education into digital audio; the al-Majlis al-Ilmi forum for discussion on the method of Ahl al-Sunna wa-l-Jama'a; and personal sites of scholars and preachers. 1 The museum holds the network's sermons section in the Khutab and Durus explorer. 3 The article names Sa'd ibn Abd Allah al-Humayyid and Khalid ibn Abd al-Rahman al-Juraysi as the network's two supervisors. 1

The network is active at alukah.net and has an article in the Arabic Wikipedia. 4
