Summary

A platinum album certification is a sales certification given by record companies or a country's music-industry body to an album that reached a set sales threshold there, in as many degrees as there are thresholds (platinum once, or many times over). The museum uses this general record to file each album's certification among its honours with the territory, the certifying body and the date as the sources state them. 1

How the museum records it

The sales figures behind a certification are attributed to whoever announced them, not fixed museum facts: Thank You Allah, for example, was certified eight times platinum in Malaysia by January 2011, which the Arabic article credits to Warner Music Malaysia, and twenty times in Indonesia by June 2016 with sales above 300,000 copies, according to press reports cited by the English article. 1 2
