Summary
Before Rabbani
Before the group was formed, Mohammed Asri Ibrahim belonged to NadaMurni, a nasheed group managed by a recording company within the Al-Arqam movement; when Al-Arqam was banned in Malaysia in 1994, NadaMurni was dissolved, as the article tells it. 1
The group
Its first album, Rabbani (1997), sold more than 90,000 copies, as Utusan Malaysia reported, and ten more albums followed until 2005; Pergi Tak Kembali and Intifada were greater successes, though criticised. 1 Its leader and main voice, Mohammed Asri Ibrahim, died of a heart attack on 13 August 2009, and the group released Mahabbah on 18 December 2009. 1 Its albums also include Maulana, first released in Kuwait in Arabic in 2005 and reissued in Malaysia as Maulaya in 2011, and Yang Benar (2016). 1
Concerts
The group performed at the Kuwait nasheed festival in 2006 and at Mawlid evenings in 1427, 1430 and 1431 AH, among them a concert at Malawati Stadium in Shah Alam and one at the Islamic Civilisation Park in Terengganu. 1
