Summary
Amir Nasir al-Din al-Qaymuri, commander of the armies, founded the madrasa at Damascus east of the Umayyad mosque — that quarter is still called al-Qaymuriiyya after it. He was a brave champion, a leader, just and generous, and it was he who handed Damascus over to al-Nasir. He died as a frontier volunteer on the coast in Rabi' I. 1
