Place in the story

    Unknown (unknown)

Roles are dated and sourced; the museum describes the act and attributes the judgement.

    Early life and education

He was educated at the Princes' School in Riyadh, where he studied Islam and Arabic, focusing on sharia in the Wahhabi interpretation under the Hanbali school of jurisprudence, and learned the Quran under a cleric in the Wahhabi tradition. As the note below explains, that passage attests the school of his education — his formation — not a declared personal affiliation. 1

    Offices before the throne

He was deputy governor and then governor of Riyadh for some 48 years (1963–2011), then Minister of Defense, and from 2012 Crown Prince. 1

    Reign

He succeeded his brother King Abdullah on 23 January 2015. In his reign his son Mohammed bin Salman became Crown Prince in 2017 and Prime Minister in 2022, leading wide-ranging reforms in the country. 1 2

    Note on the record

Two readings are preserved here, each resting on a single family of evidence. The Sunni reading rests on the English article's infobox religion field ("Sunni Islam") together with Wikidata's religion value of Sunni Islam — the infobox and its structured echo are one family; the Arabic article's infobox has no religion field, no text names a school for him, and the Arabic "Saudi Sunni Muslims" category is a filing. The Hanbali reading rests on the early-life text alone, which describes the school of his education, and formation never counts as affiliation. His school is therefore recorded as unknown. 1 3 4
