Summary

I Believe is the second studio album of the Canadian Muslim singer-songwriter Irfan Makki, released by Awakening Records on 28 July 2011, after his Salam (2006); it runs 53 minutes. 1 2

The songs

The original version has thirteen tracks: 'Waiting for the Call', 'Mabrook', 'I Believe' with Maher Zain, the Urdu 'Lab Pae Aati', 'Mamma', 'Palestine', 'Allahu', 'You & I', 'Khayal', 'Al-Amin' and 'I'm So Sorry', followed by an acoustic 'I Believe' and an Urdu 'Mabrook'. 1

The hoax

'Waiting for the Call' became the subject of recurring internet hoaxes claiming that Michael Jackson wrote it before his death in 2009 and that governments suppressed it or bought its rights; Irfan Makki stated in 2016 that he wrote and sang it, and the fact-checker Dubawa found in 2021 that Jackson had no connection to it. 1 The museum records the story as a hoax, denied by the song's author and by fact-checkers.

Al-Mu'allim

Sami Yusuf's debut album, released by Awakening in 2003 after the label signed him as its first artist; its title, 'The Teacher', refers to the Prophet. The Guardian reported in 2012 that it sold 3 million copies and that, with My Ummah, it led Time magazine to call Sami Yusuf 'Islam's biggest rock star' and set the bar for the young nasheed industry.
