Overview
In 571/1175, on his first Indian expedition, Mu'izz al-Din Muhammad ibn Sam of Ghur drove the Ismaili rulers out of Multan, set an orthodox governor over the province and captured Uch 1.
"Extracted from the hands of the Karmatis"
Juzjani describes the conquest as wresting Multan from the hands of the Karmatis; the Encyclopaedia notes that the Ismailis had recovered from Mahmud of Ghazna's defeat and held the city for nearly a hundred and seventy years before the Ghurid came 2.
What followed
With this conquest Multan entered the Ghurid dominion, and after Mu'izz al-Din's assassination in 603/1206 it fell to his mamluk Nasir al-Din Qabacha, who ruled a short-lived state from it 1.
