Summary
Minhaj is an Islamic app and digital platform of the Muslim World League. It gathers religious, educational, cultural, social and humanitarian services in a single app: an electronic mushaf, prayer times, the qibla, adhkar, the Hijri and Gregorian calendars, religious consultations, interactive courses, zakat and inheritance calculators, maps, news, humanitarian projects, virtual communities and a digital library. 1
Beginnings
The Islamic Fiqh Council approved the idea of the app in its resolution 23 of 13 Shawwal 1445 AH (22 April 2024); the League says the resolution was taken with muftis and senior scholars from Muslim-majority and Muslim-minority countries. 1 The app was built with the Elm company, whose 2025 annual report names it among the platforms it helped launch. 1 It was launched in Mecca on 27 November 2025 at a ceremony in the Clock Tower, attended by the League's Secretary-General Muhammad ibn Abd al-Karim al-Issa, the Grand Mufti of Saudi Arabia Salih ibn Fawzan al-Fawzan, the imam of the Masjid al-Haram Salih ibn Humayd and others from several countries. 1 The name is an Arabic word for a way or method, and the League presents the platform under the motto "from Mecca to the world". 1
What it offers
The League says the platform has fifteen main services. The app holds a mushaf to read and to hear, with tafsirs and the recitations of several reciters; Qur'an teaching and correction of recitation with specialised teachers; and lectures and courses, some of which give certificates. Its maps find the League's offices, mosques and restaurants serving halal food; its news section pays attention to Muslim minorities; its zakat calculator, the League says, follows recognised schools of law; and it has an inheritance calculator. Virtual communities form around a country or a subject such as fiqh or hadith, and a projects section, which the League links to initiatives inspired by the Charter of Makkah, presents humanitarian work. 1 The App Store lists seven languages: Arabic, English, French, Indonesian, Persian, Spanish and Urdu. 1
What was said about it
Press coverage at the launch, in Independent Arabia, Arab News, al-Madina, the Qatar News Agency and the Union of OIC News Agencies, dwelt on its services for Muslims in minority countries and on its religious framework. Arab News quoted al-Issa as saying that the platform rests on an international religious framework prepared over years by jurists and experts, to address what he called the inconsistency of some religious programmes found online; this is the position of the body behind the project. 1 In May 2026 the League signed a memorandum with the King Salman Global Academy for the Arabic Language that includes teaching Arabic to non-native speakers through the app. 1
