Summary
The book reports Abu Bakr's sermon on the day the Prophet died. Before it, a group of companions had urged him to stay at home, since the people had no strength for fighting the tribes; he refused. 1
He then climbed the pulpit, praised God, invoked blessings on the Prophet, and said: "Whoever worshipped Muhammad, Muhammad is dead; whoever worshipped God, God is living and never dies." 1
The sermon calls for steadfastness even when the number is small, and holds that the religion will prevail despite the disbelievers' opposition. 1
