    Career

Slimani began at JSM Chéraga and joined CR Belouizdad in May 2009; his goals there — including four in one match against JS Kabylie in May 2011 — carried him to Sporting CP in 2013, where he scored regularly for three seasons and won the Taça de Portugal in 2015. In 2016 Leicester City paid a club-record £28 million for him; after eighteen months he was loaned in turn to Newcastle United, Fenerbahçe and Monaco, then joined Lyon in 2021, briefly returned to Sporting, and passed through Brest, Anderlecht, Coritiba and Mechelen before returning to Algeria with CR Belouizdad in 2024 and a loan to Westerlo in 2025. He had won the Algerian Golden Ball for 2013. 1 2

He debuted for Algeria in 2012, played at five Africa Cup of Nations tournaments and the 2014 World Cup — where he was Algeria's joint top scorer — and was part of the squad that won the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations. 1

    On the record

Neither article states Slimani's religion: there is no religion field in either infobox and no statement in either text. Wikidata carries only Islam, generically, a single structured value that names no school. The record therefore stands at unknown, with the Wikidata reading preserved in the data file. 1 2 3

    Charles V's Algiers expedition (1541)

After the Truce of Nice (945/1538) Charles V landed before Algiers on 28 Jumada II 948/15 October 1541. Governor Hasan Agha al-Tushi answered his threat-letter — 'this land gives an invader only death' — then a storm tore up the siege camp, dashed the ships together and wrecked the powder; every assault failed and the emperor withdrew to Italy. Algiers' letter to Süleyman compared it to the rout of the People of the Elephant; a second letter asked for reinforcements and Khayr al-Din's restoration. João III's Ramadan 948 letter to Charles cited Ottoman-supplied Sa'di strength in evacuating Safi and Azemmour.
