Summary

The hadith master Wajih al-Din Abu Muhammad Abd al-Rahman ibn Ali al-Dayba' al-Shaybani al-Zabidi al-Shafii. At the end of his book "Bughyat al-Mustafid fi Akhbar Zabid", he writes: "I was born in the well-guarded city of Zabid, on Thursday, the fourth of Muharram in the year 865, in my father's house. My father was away from Zabid at the end of the year in which I was born, and my eyes never saw him. I grew up in the care of my maternal grandfather, the learned, righteous and knowing Sharaf al-Din Ani, known as Isma'il ibn Muhammad ibn Mubarz." 2

Master of the world's narrations

Al-Nur said of him: he was the imam, the hadith master, the proof, the precise one, shaykh of Islam, the scholar of the people, the critic, the imam, the transmitter of the world, commander of the believers in hadith, the seal of the researchers, and the one who joins the last generations to the first. He took knowledge from countless teachers, and the great scholars took from him, among them the scholar Ibn Ziyad, the hadith master al-Tahir ibn Husayn al-Ahdal, and Ahmad ibn Ali al-Mizjaji. Leadership of the travel in search of hadith came to him, and students came to him from all corners of the earth 1.
