Overview

al-Maqqari describes the battle of Anisha, in which the hafiz Abu al-Rabi' al-Kilai was killed on Thursday, ten days before the end of Dhu al-Hijja 634 AH. 2

The death of al-Kilai

He kept always at the front of the lines, facing the enemy, calling to those who had fled: "Do you flee from Paradise?" He used to say that the end of his life would be seventy years, on account of a dream he had seen as a child. His student Ibn al-Abbar mourned him in an elegy rhyming in mim. 2
