In 489 Yusuf b. Tashfin killed al-Mutawakkil Sahib Badajoz, known as Saja, together with his sons — instigated by Ibn Abbad, who had secretly urged Yusuf to strike before the taifa king joined the Castilian 1.

Overview
Al-Mutawakkil Abu Hafs Umar ibn Muhammad, known as Sajja, sultan of Badajoz, was killed by Yusuf ibn Tashfin, amir of the Almoravids, in 489 AH, and his sons were killed with him. 2
Ibn Khaldun's account
Ibn Khaldun says that Ibn Abbad, that is al-Mu'tamid, incited Yusuf against him. When suspicion took hold and al-Mutawakkil sensed it, he wrote to Yusuf and urged him to deal with him before he could approach the tyrant. 2
