Overview

The Janjiyyun are the followers of Janji al-Jawkhani, who worshipped idols and struck the zanjalij in the house of idolatry, then gave that up and invented a doctrine, according to Ibn al-Nadim. 2

Their doctrine

Ibn al-Nadim sets out their view: there was something before light and darkness. In darkness there are two forms, male and female. Light appeared to the female, and she was robbed of it, and from it the sky, the mountains and the earth were created. They claim that fire is the sovereign of the world. 2
