Overview

The Marcionites, followers of Marcion, a group of Christians whom Ibn al-Nadim regards as closer to the Manichaeans and the Daysaniyya. 2

Their doctrine according to Ibn al-Nadim

Ibn al-Nadim says that they spoke of two ancient principles, light and darkness, and of a third existence that mixed them and blended them. They differed about it: some made it life, which is Jesus, and some made Jesus a messenger for that third existence. They agreed that the world is created and that the craft in it is clear. 2

He mentions that they have a book of their own, and that Marcion had a gospel named after himself. He says that they conceal themselves behind Christianity, and that their number in Khurasan is large. 2
