Overview
Description
Inside it is an iron idol seven cubits tall, in the middle of the dome. It is held by lodestones on all sides with equal forces. It is said that it leaned to one side because of a blight that befell it. 2
The house stands at the foot of a mountain, and it is a dome one hundred and eighty cubits high. 2
Pilgrimage to it
Indians make pilgrimage to it from the far ends of their lands, by land and by sea, and the road to it from Balkh is straight. It is said that never an hour passed without a people coming to it. On the summit of the mountain and at its foot are houses for ascetics and devotees, and places for sacrifices and offerings. 2
