Abd al-Aziz ibn Hatim al-Bahili

عبد العزيز بن حاتم بن النعمان الباهلي

Abd al-Aziz ibn Hatim ibn al-Nu'man ibn Amr al-Bahili; in al-Baladhuri: he governed Armenia after his brother Abdallah ibn Hatim, who had died there as Mu'awiya's governor, and built the city of Dabil, fortified it and enlarged its mosque, built the city of Nashwa, repaired Bardha'a — or, it is said, renewed its building — dug the two Fariq moats about it soundly, and renewed the city of al-Baylaqan, these cities having been ruined and decayed; al-Waqidi says Abd al-Malik built Bardha'a by the hand of Hatim ibn al-Nu'man al-Bahili or his son.

Armenia

Armenia in al-Baladhuri on two schemata: Shimshat, Qaliqala, Khilat, Arjish and Bajunays as the fourth Armenia; the Busfurrajan district, Dabil, Siraj Tayr and Baghrawand the third; Jurzan the second; and Sisajan and Arran the first — or, it is said, Shimshat alone the fourth; Qaliqala, Khilat, Arjish and Bajunays the third; Siraj Tayr, Baghrawand, Dabil and Busfurrajan the second; and Sisajan, Arran and Tiflis the first; Jurzan and Arran were in Khazar hands and the rest of Armenia in Roman hands under the lord of the Armeniakoi, while it had lain in Persian hands until Islam appeared, Anushirwan having confirmed the kings of Jabal al-Qabq on their kingdoms for tribute.
