Overview

Daghful ibn al-Muqarrij al-Ta'i, a commander who seized Ramla and the territories attached to it during the Fatimid period. 2

His account

Ibn al-Athir says that he showed obedience to al-Aziz without acting on his orders. He moved against the Uqayl tribes living in Syria to drive them out, and the Uqayl gathered around Abu Taghlib to ask for his support. 2

When Abu Taghlib marched on Ramla in 369 AH, Daghful and al-Fadl mustered their troops, the Uqayl were routed, and Abu Taghlib was taken prisoner. Daghful captured him and bound him. 2

The killing of Abu Taghlib

Al-Fadl wanted to bring Abu Taghlib to al-Aziz in Egypt. Daghful feared that al-Aziz would deal with him as he had dealt with Subuktakin, so he killed him while al-Fadl was not paying attention and sent his head to Egypt, according to Ibn al-Athir. 3

أبو تغلب فضل الله بن ناصر الدولة

The Ghadanfar Abu Taghlib Fadlallah, last Hamdanid amir of the Jazira; driven from Mosul by Adud al-Dawla, kept out of Damascus by Qassam, he was taken near Ramla in 369 when his Uqayli allies melted away, and Daghful the Jarrahid killed him lest al-Aziz make him a client — his head went to Egypt.
