Overview
Eretna, a Mongol commander and founder of the Eretnid state in the lands of Rum, as Ibn Khaldun reports in "Al-Ibar". 1
Founding the state
He was made shihna (military governor) over the lands of Rum at the end of the Hulaguid state. When their affairs fell into disorder after the death of Abu Sa'id, he became independent in his rule at Caesarea and Sivas. 1
He added to it territories from Aksaray, Malatya and Samosata, and what he took from the lands of Armenia. 1
His son Ala al-Din Artana inherited it from him, followed by his grandsons, until their rule died out among the Turkmen states. 1
