Overview

Ghiyath ibn Ibrahim, one of those who narrated hadith to the Abbasid caliph al-Mahdi. In the hadith of Abu Hurayra, "There is no racing except in hoof or arrow", he added the word "or wing", hoping for the prize. Al-Mahdi ordered that he be given ten thousand dirhams, and then said to him: "I testify that your nape is the nape of a liar", and ordered the doves slaughtered. This is al-Suyuti's report. 1
